What is the Bank RuPay EMV Contactless Kisan Card?

The contactless card is a fast and secure way for everyday purchases. It contains a secure, contactless chip technology which allows you to spend less time at the checkout counter saving you time.

How does the RuPay EMV Contactless Kisan Card work?

  • 1) Look for contactless logo at the point of sale (POS).
  • 2) Present your card to the cashier at the terminal. The transaction amount will be displayed on the contactless reader.
  • 3) Tap your card near the card reader or POS. (Within 4 centimeters of where the contactless logo appears).
  • 4) A green indicator light or beep will appear when the transaction is complete. A message indicating the completion of the transaction will also be displayed on the screen. No PIN is required for transactions under Rs. 5000.
Please note that in India, for transactions made through the Kisan card contactless mode, you have the authority to transact up to Rs. 5,000/- for one transaction without a PIN.
What are the benefits?

  • The contactless payment feature is designed for your convenience, offering quick and secure transactions.
  • There's no need to insert, swipe, or enter a PIN for your card at any place. You can make payments in seconds. It's especially convenient for use at fast food joints, petrol pumps, cinemas, etc.
  • Since it's contactless, your card stays in your hand, reducing the risk of skimming and card loss. Due to its unique, embedded secret, it's more secure.
  • You don't need to carry cash for everyday small purchases. This also makes it easier to track your expenses.
Is there a limit to contactless transactions? Can I set a limit for my card?

For contactless transactions, you are allowed transactions up to Rs. 5,000/- in India. For transactions exceeding Rs. 5,000/-, you will be asked to provide your Kisan card PIN. This amazing limit is for all customers. Setting a limit higher than this is not possible.

There is no difference in the process for ATM or online transactions with regard to card not present processes. For ATM transactions, you need to enter a PIN, and for card not present transactions, you need to enter your 3D Secure PIN or OTP.
